We’re soccer fans. We admit it. So for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, we saw an opportunity to connect small businesses showing the games with local New York soccer fans, like us.
A week before the matches began, Plus launched GameFinder, a mobile application that helped New Yorkers get recommendations on bars and restaurants that were screening games. A fan’s location, nationality, and game time were all used to deliver the best possible result.
The platform provided small business partners with an interface that allowed them to frequently update promotions, maximizing revenue by attaching drink specials and incentives to real time events happening during the competition.
To promote GameFinder, we developed an advertising and PR campaign utilizing guerilla projections, coordinated street teams, wild postings and a partnership with the Mayor’s office.
