A NICE SET
GLOBAL TRAVELING ART MOVEMENT
Global Art Series exploring the intersection between art and music. 4 Years. 9 Cities. 80 Artists. 1 Art Book.
Exploring the
intersection between
art and music
Passions aren't always driven by the latest technologies. This is especially true in art and music. Art still takes form through paint and pencils. Music is temporal, but the vinyl record remains an object of desire and a currency within culture.
The culture of DJs developed with the use of simple tools: turntables, a mixer, records and slipmats.
After serendipitously stumbling upon a pile of old slipmats together, Plus’ Jeremy Hollister and streetwear designer Jeff Staple were inspired to spark a connection between design and DJ culture.
The idea came to life as A Nice Set, an art show, DJ nights, an art book, and merchandising that traveled the world for three years, generating revenue, local interest, events, and brand alignment opportunities for emerging and established artists. We commissioned artists to develop custom art on DJ turntable slip mats, highlighting the interplay and dissolving boundaries between these respective art forms.
The custom tour experience featured the artwork of world-renowned DJs such as Jamie Lidell, Bobbito Garcia, and A-Trak. It attracted taste-making crowds in Tokyo, Paris, New York, Hong Kong, Madrid, Melbourne, Singapore, and Shanghai.
